Children with special needs require additional support, structured environments and programs for their cognitive and social development. The regular school system is unable to cope and provide the necessary facilities, resources and staff needed to offer these services to these children. Under the regular school system, with the large numbers of children in classes, teachers are unable to provide these children targeted attention and assistance to help these children in their learning. Due to this, they fall behind and have problems catching up with their peers. These children get sidelined, ignored, labelled as stupid, lazy, naughty, incapable of learning and derogatory remarks directed at them by peers and adults alike. Such children hardly ever gets to have their full potential recognized.

Sri Eden aims to provide a conducive environment akin to a school setting, having related services in place, in order to give educational opportunities to these children who are unable to learn in a normal school setting. Our programs are catered and streamed according to the children’s mental abilities. We work on each child’s capabilities and build up on it gradually to enable the child to achieve his/her fullest potentials. We focus on individualized education plans and impact all-rounded living skills to the children; combining academics, structured and creative learning programmes to draw out the best in these children. Our programs take them through from childhood to adolescents and preparation for them to transition to adulthood for gainful employment.

Target Beneficiary

12 children from families of B40 households, considered urban poor, will be provided with daily training, intervention programs, by teachers trained in special education needs. Impact Parameters: We have the capability to impact long term effects to bring change in the lives of these children & their families.

Impact Parameters

Apart from primary goals, Sri Eden is a place where families who face the same challenges gather and uphold each other through the same journey. Sri Eden has; directly and indirectly, grown to be a centre which spreads awareness on children with special needs. Through this, we hope to STOP discrimination, reduce stereotypical views & prejudice, INCREASE acceptance and inspire people to make space for these children to live meaningful lives within the ‘normal’ community.
